Since 2007, following the State's airport reform, the airport has been owned by a Syndicat Mixte (SMACFA) comprising the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region (40%), Clermont Auvergne Métropole (32%) and the Puy-de-Dôme Department (28%).

The Syndicat Mixte de l'Aéroport Clermont-Ferrand Auvergne, made up of 18 full members and 18 deputy members from the 3 member local authorities, has been chaired since 2021 by Frédéric AGUILERA. In accordance with its Articles of Association, SMACFA :

  • Defines the development strategy (air and airport) for the airport;
  • Determines the operating regime for the airport (currently, a Public Service Delegation from 2015 to 2030 with SEACFA-VINCI Airports);
  • Carriestheinvestment (infrastructures) on the current DSP.

A few months before the 2020 pandemic, SMACFA initiated a forward-looking review of the airport's development, with a view to adapting its offer (in terms of mobility and real estate) to the region's challenges in terms of attractiveness and environmental transition.


 

As a result of these discussions, a development plan has been drawn up, the first concrete results of which can be found in the airport's backstage area.
